Spring has finally arrived in Japan. Flowers are blooming, and so are people’s energy level and their mood for drinking. This month, 3 types of spring-themed sake are hitting our shelves, so even if you are not in Japan, you can still feel the warm and lively spring atmosphere here.
Flavors of Rice Dance on Your Palate
Kasen,
Wajo Special Junmai
Outstanding Special Junmai from a Tokyo’s brewery with a history of nearly 200 years. It is made based on the lively image of cherry blossom and streets in Tokyo. Like its concept, it is rich with the prominent aromas of ripe banana, white rice and cereal. The sweetness is perfectly balanced by the acidity, so even those who drink sake for the first time will fall in love with it.
Aromas as Elegant as Cherry Blossoms
Kuromatsu Senjo,
Ouro Daiginjo
Excellent premium Daiginjo of Kuromatsu Senjo. Brewed using Kinmonnishiki, the local rice of Nagano Prefecture, this sake is elegant and crisp with the aromas of green apple, young white grapes, honeysuckle and white flower. Light, fresh and medium dry, it also shows a short finish and is especially recommended to those who like Tanrei style.
Texture as Comforting as a Warm Spring
Temahima,
Junmai Daiginjo Yukimegami
Temahima is the most premium series of Rokkasen Brewery. This sake is brewed using Yukimegami, the local rice of Yamagata Prefecture, which contains high portion of shimpaku so high polishing rate can be achieved. Fruity and aromatic with the notes of melon, strawberry, green apple and mandarin, it is rich, mellow, delicate and complex. Pleasantly tart and well-balanced, it especially goes well with seafood and grilled food.
