Knowledge about gin
- What is Gin?
- Gin is a spirit flavored by botanicals such as herbs, fruits, spices etc. which are infused during the distilling process. Juniper is the most essential botanical which gives the signature green and pine notes to gin. The alcohol by volume is around 40 to 50 percent.
- What about Craft Gin?
- Craft gin is usually produced in small production with more meticulous attention and work devoted and shows more unique characters than the traditional one. As long as juniper is added, it is up to the distilleries to adjust the distilling methods, recipes and botanicals. As more than a hundred different botanicals can be adopted for flavoring, each brand features with subtle differences in flavors and aromas.
- What are the main features of Japanese Craft Gin?
- While juniper and other common botanicals such as coriander remain present, a lot of produce native to Japan can be found in Japanese Craft Gin – yuzu, sansho pepper, green tea, sakura etc. With more complicated flavors and delicate mouthfeel, they just need to be slightly arranged with ice cubes, soda or tonic water and will be so delicious!
