Winners at International Wine Challenge 2019

Started since 1984, International Wine Challenge (IWC) is regarded as the Olympics of the alcohol industry and takes place each year in London. Other than wine and spirits, there is also a sake division, and the results of 2019 have been released in mid May. This year, 432 breweries have participated in the contest, with as many as 1,500 entry sakes. The highest-rated sakes are granted “Trophy”, followed by “Gold”, “Silver, and “Bronze”, with the best of the best chosen as “Champion Sake”, which will be announced in early July. As the competition was so fierce, only 23 items could finally win the Trophy.

Some winning sakes have been available on Saketora, including the Trophy-winning Daiginjo of Soutenden. More new trophy and gold items are coming soon in the near future, so please stay tuned with us and give them a try!
